The "labyrinth" made of Corten steel symbolizes the path of a police investigation - from clues at the crime scene to dead ends and obstacles to the solution. It stands for the perseverance, systematic approach and determination of the police and makes their motto visible: "No matter what tomorrow brings - we are there to help." Visitors can follow the winding path with their eyes or hands and thus directly experience the complex but always solvable nature of police work.
The artwork is publicly accessible on the grounds of the Magdeburg police station. It refers to the history of the site, whose clinker brick buildings once served as the Trainkaserne and were later used by the GDR People's Police. The clear form of the labyrinth reflects the austerity and structure of the architecture and combines historical traces with the current role of the police. Through the changing interplay of light and shadow, it emphasizes the complexity of police work and at the same time creates a strong symbol of identification for the officers.
The "Labyrinth" is made of durable Corten steel and anchored to a concrete base. The open, robust shape makes it durable, vandal-proof and maintenance-free. It blends into its surroundings without interfering with technical systems, making it a visible, permanent symbol of police work in Magdeburg.
The artwork combines the symbolism of the investigation with the history of the location and makes the work of the police force tangible in an impressive way. The complementary motto on the plinth underlines its reliable and supportive character: present, constant and close to the people.
