The "Color Mirror of History" connects in its form and function with the life story of Anne Frank. The sculpture, inspired by her life's journey, represents themes such as growth, openness and reflection.
Artistic concept: The sculpture offers a dynamic, changing experience that depends on the position of the viewer. Viewed frontally, the colored panels become almost invisible, revealing instead profound quotes from Anne Frank's diary. These quotes are engraved into the polished stainless steel and offer direct and intense access to her thoughts and feelings. As the viewer's perspective shifts to the side, the quotes disappear and the colored panels come to the fore. These panels represent the broad spectrum of emotions and experiences that Anne Frank lived through in her short life. This interplay of visibility and concealment encourages the viewer to look at the sculpture from different perspectives and to engage deeply with its content.
Positioned in the entrance area of the Anne Frank School, the sculpture interacts harmoniously with its surroundings. It not only reflects the surrounding landscape and architecture, but also serves as a striking, welcoming symbol for the school children, teachers, staff and visitors.
The artwork is made of polished stainless steel, combined with vertically arranged, colored panels. The sophisticated technology enables two-in-one visualization, with either quotes or colors coming to the fore depending on the viewing angle.
Measuring 2.50 m in height and 80 cm × 80 cm in cross-section, the sculpture blends seamlessly into its surroundings and yet makes an unmistakable mark on the entrance area of the school. It weighs approx. 500 kg.
The weather-resistant polished and colored surfaces require minimal maintenance. The materials used are environmentally friendly and sustainably sourced.
The solid construction of the sculpture offers maximum safety. Thanks to the corrosion-resistant stainless steel, maintenance costs are low.
